![]() That’s how strongly I feel after reading this poor piece of work that sends the wrong message about relationships! I can’t and won’t support this author anymore. I’ve read Ugly Love before (it was alright), then Verity (rubbish!) and this is my third one. ![]() The only reason I read this book because the author is so popular (and you know what, kudos to any aspiring writer who becomes a success I’m all for supporting women and supporting aspiring writers). There are young impressionable readers and fans of this author so it’s quite worrying how toxic behaviour is romanticise and justified. ![]() The message and conclusion of the book is disturbing and problematic. ![]() Victims of abuse may find this story and the way the characters are drawn out quite triggering (I work with victims so I understand toxic behaviour and red flags, and the impact of trauma!) Topics such as consent, controlling/ manipulative behaviour, unwarranted sexual advances, coercion, gaslighting, stalking, harassment, emotional abuse, and more are handled poorly by the author. ![]()
